Ultra hygienic drives
Dertec develops and manufactures a unique line of stainless steel gearboxes and electric motors that have special hygiene properties. Meanwhile, the brand is becoming a household name in the food industry.

Gearboxes and motors with sleek hygienic design
Hygienic properties and sustainability have become increasingly important over the years. From these requirements, we deliberately design our drives for maximum economic and ecological performance. This means: smooth round shapes, easy water drainage, no dirt accumulation and, of course, with AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel materials.

The reliable alternative
Our stainless steel solutions for the food industry offer more reliable alternatives to conventional drives. Cast iron or aluminum drives have a surface treatment or coating. In practice, these finishes quickly create hygiene problems. Dertec gearboxes are manufactured exclusively from stainless steel 316 (wstnr 1.4401) castings. In terms of hygiene, durability and cleanability, nothing beats the properties of stainless steel.

Wide delivery program in stainless steel
Dertec does not just focus on the most popular versions. Over the years, we have developed stainless steel alternatives for many common gearboxes. We supply output torque up to 2,700 Nm in stainless steel. As many as thirty different types divided into eight different product lines can be assembled as required. Stainless steel geared motors - The giant and the dwarf
Dertec is a specialist in stainless steel geared motors and gearboxes for hygienic applications in the food industry. The delivery program is very extensive - with very large but also small drive systems. All this with a particularly long service life.

In order to make the diversity in the Dertec delivery program understandable, in this article we would like to show you the largest and smallest version of our gearbox in one picture.

The smallest gearbox in our program delivers 20 Nm of torque and has a hollow shaft diameter of 14 mm. The largest delivers 2700 Nm of torque with a hollow shaft diameter of 60 mm. Thus, the shaft diameter of the largest gearbox is more than 4x larger and delivers 135x more torque.

The large gearbox shown is our FKA88. In the photo, the bevel gearbox combined with an FRC01 advance stage and an FP2SS Asynchronous stainless steel motor making it a complete gear motor. This version was supplied to a client in the USA where our UL/CSA certification (UL E506337) ensures that the systems meet all the requirements of this country.

Gear boxes and motors made of stainless steel
Dertec stainless steel geared motors offer many advantages. Their round and smooth design prevents dirt build-up and makes them very easy to clean through the CIP process and other cleaning techniques. Special shaft seals and the duplex stainless steel hardened shaft ensure longer life, which can be up to 4 times longer than conventional drives.

Special series of ultra hygienic motors
In addition to our standard hygienic drives, we supply another special series 'Signature line' stainless steel motors and gearboxes that, with their customized seals and design, deliver even better hygienic performance for the most demanding applications.

Technology

Why stainless steel gearboxes and motors?
Hygiene plays a very important role in the food industry. Dirt accumulation and corrosion in drive components are a true problem. Not only do they pose a direct issue toward food safety, but indirectly they can also cause all kinds of malfunctions.

Dertec stainless steel geared motors are easy to clean and offer a proven design for Clean in Place applications and sanitary areas. Special shaft seals and the Duplex stainless steel hardened shaft provide long life. The stainless steel electromotors feature high-quality bearings, suitable to withstand the harsh conditions of the food industry. This doesn't just stop at the bearing specifications. All bearings feature hydrophobic, food-grade lubrication suitable for high temperatures to extend the initial life of the bearings.

Dertec stainless steel geared motors are resistant to corrosion. The gearbox housing is always stainless steel 316 ( Wstnr.14401), the electric motor housing is stainless steel 304 ( Wstnr 14301).

Stainless steel offers a corrosion-resistant surface without flaking paint or coatings. The motors also have no cooling fins. The round and organic design is ideal for use in hygienic applications. The lack of sharp corners and angled surfaces help reduce dirt build-up. For special applications, Dertec offers special seals and possibly additional features to further increase the hygienic properties of the standard stainless steel used - for applications in the fishing industry, among others.

IP seal
Dertec gearboxes have an IP rating and are completely waterproof. This allows them to be cleaned under high pressure. To ensure watertightness, each gearbox is tested with a 100% factory pressure test before leaving the factory. The stainless steel gearmotors are standard rated as IP66 and can be optionally rated as IP67 or IP69.

Other unique features of the Dertec drives
All Dertec stainless steel electric motors and stainless steel gearboxes are provided with a lasered typeface. As a result, the typeface cannot get lost or cause dirt accumulation and is very easy to clean. So no risk of contamination!

The seals are made of food-safe materials and, in addition, we supply food-safe lubricants that come with halal, kosher or nut-free certification at no extra charge.
