There is no shortage of technology today. If you search the Internet, you come across numerous sites touting components and parts. But how do you use them to build the machine you had in mind? How does everything work together? That requires technical knowledge and the necessary flexibility to make the puzzle fit perfectly for each application. That's how technical wholesaler MC.Technology is in the market.
Passion for technology, it can indeed be instilled with the paring knife. Jorgo van Duffelen, Managing Director of MC.Technology, rolled naturally into the family business that his father founded in '94. A technical wholesaler in control technology, drives, linear technology and components is what the website says, but that does not do it justice. For it is precisely that knowledge of and passion for technology that makes the difference. "We're definitely not box shoppers," Van Duffelen opens with a laugh. "Customers knock on our door because they are looking for something just a little bit different in order to distinguish themselves with their machine. Then you have to understand how all those parts fit together nicely. We try to support them as best we can. We look together at the application and how best to put the puzzle together."
It provided MC.Technology with a very nice list of references in numerous sectors. For example, it already did a project for defense, but the parts also end up in machines for ASML. "But the best part is that once customers know us, they also like to return. For example, I was recently contacted by a company that had already bought a controller from us eighteen years ago. The machine was still running, but they now wanted to build a copy of it. That's what you do it for," Van Duffelen says proudly. Plumes he doesn't want to put only on his own hat, by the way. "We also owe our success to our suppliers. Lin Engineering, Electrocraft, ERO Führungen, AMS, ÜV, ... just to name a few. We consciously choose partners where personal contact is important and where you still have a direct line to the developers. Our partners, like us, must want to do more than just sell an engine."
In MC.Technology's nearly 30-year history, that has always been the common thread in its portfolio. "In addition, we try to put together a complementary offering. A motor alone is not enough to drive a machine. That also includes a piece of electronics. With the brands we represent in the Benelux, we can put together a complete powertrain for a machine." For very many different applications, by the way. In that respect, too, MC.Technology has chosen strength in breadth. "For example, we have three suppliers of motors, all of which work slightly differently and deliver slightly different technology. That makes it possible to always provide customers with the best technical solution for their application."
MC.Technology can deliver the parts to customers or assemble them if required. "For that, we have our own workshop. If customers knock on our door with an idea for a new machine, we discuss with them what exactly they need, what they want to achieve, and then we look for the right parts to go with it. Or we can make them entirely to the customer's specification in the workshop, for example by modifying a motor shaft." Moving quickly is important to Van Duffelen. "We try to keep a nice stock on hand so that, if something breaks down, customers can also get on quickly. Furthermore, we work with orders on call so that their parts are always in stock. A matter of good agreements."
That customer focus will continue to be the cornerstone of MC.Technology in the future. "We want to continue to grow together with our customers. That personal contact and those technical discussions with the developers, that is our strength. That is what we will continue to focus on with our team. Next year we want to show that in Belgium by being present at the Indumation fair, together with our supplier ElectroCraft," Van Duffelen adds.
