As part of his tour of the fair on the second day of Hannover Messe 2024, the Minister of Economy and Climate, Dr. Robert Habeck, also visited Mülheim-based automation specialist Turck. Together with a delegation from the associations ZVEI and VDMA, the minister learned more about Turck's contribution to a sustainable industry. The guests were welcomed by Managing Director Christian Wolf and Olaf Ophoff, Vice President of the Automation Systems business unit.
The minister and hosts had a lively discussion on how Turck brings the company motto "We enable Sustainability" to life. "Whether it is effective energy management, efficient and resource-saving production or transparent supply chains - all steps toward greater efficiency and sustainability are based on the right data. We provide the reliable collection, processing and transfer of this data - from the sensor to the cloud," Wolf explains. "As a specialist in smart sensor technology and decentralized automation with IP67 protection, we support digital transformation and are among the pioneers of Industrie 4.0 and IIoT," Ophoff added.
The economy minister saw how this approach can be applied in practice to two exhibits, first to a demo machine that records a lot of data and sends the readings to the cloud, and then to an RFID-based track-and-trace application that demonstrates the efficiency gains through transparent supply chains. In the relaxed atmosphere of the talk, Dr. Habeck did not miss the opportunity to send the model of the forklift used for this purpose through the RFID port on the exhibition stand himself - or at least give it a try.
