From Team URE to a permanent job with Toyota Gazoo Racing

Floris van Lookeren Campagne, a former University Racing Eindhoven (URE) team member, completed an internship with Toyota Gazoo Racing during his studies. This internship turned out to be the beginning of a long-term career. After graduating, Floris started working full-time at Toyota Gazoo Racing. We spoke with Floris and found out how his experiences at URE contribute to his work at Toyota.

From student project to job

As a member of URE, you dream of working in the racing world. Floris, responsible for composites at URE, was looking for an internship in the same discipline. He found that place at Toyota Gazoo Racing, where he continued to work part-time after his internship and wrote his master's thesis. Since then, Floris has been working full-time at Toyota for more than a year. His experience with composites at URE gave him the confidence to realize his first designs during his internship.

Permanent job

Moving from a student team to a permanent job was a logical step for Floris. At Toyota, as at URE, there is a strong team spirit. Floris emphasizes that working in a large company with shared passion for motorsports and the common goal of racing and winning is particularly motivating.

The Museum

We also got to tour the Toyota Gazoo Racing Museum, where Floris told us about the impressive vehicles, from Le Mans winners to Formula One cars. It was inspiring to hear Floris talk so passionately about these projects.
