VEGA and Food Bank Amersfoort look back on a year of cooperation

VEGA, a global manufacturer and supplier of level, switching level and pressure measuring instrumentation, has supported Voedselbank Amersfoort since September 2023. Through donations from the sale of its BASIC instruments, VEGA contributes to the financing of food packages, among other things. The company looks back on a successful partnership, in which the move of Voedselbank Amersfoort to new premises was a valuable contribution. VEGA recently announced that it will renew its support and continue to support the organization in its mission through 2025.

9,000 food packages

Food Bank Amersfoort depends on food donations from supermarkets and organizations. To ensure a varied and healthy supply of packages, the food bank supplements the supply where necessary. These costs, as well as housing, energy and transportation costs, are largely borne by the food bank itself. Providing a free food package costs the organization about five euros.

VEGA helps ease the financial burden of the food bank by donating five euros per BASIC instrument sold. With this, they provide families with varied and healthy food. The donations have made over 9,000 food packages possible, helping nearly 700 households in the region each month. "By cooperating with Voedselbank Amersfoort, we can structurally contribute to improving people's living situations," says Jürgen Schuijren, Managing Director at VEGA.

New 'store'

Thanks in part to the donation from VEGA, the move and realization of the new "store" on Amsterdamseweg was made possible. Instead of food parcels, clients of the food bank can now choose their own groceries, similar to a regular supermarket. This has brought a positive change. The new system should make the food bank more accessible and reduce waste. Many people do not dare refuse food just like that. Food Bank Amersfoort: We are very happy with the support of VEGA. This allowed us to hand out grocery coupons during the two weeks we were closed, so that our clients could do their shopping at the supermarkets in town during that period."

Great commitment

VEGA's support of Voedselbank Amersfoort is not limited to financial donations. The VEGA team is involved in a variety of ways. For example, during a fundraiser just before Christmas, 15 crates of groceries were collected as extra support for the holidays. VEGA employees have also been physically involved in the food bank's move to their new location.
