For fortop, WoTS remains the trade fair of choice to showcase itself to the Dutch public. From September 24 to 27, count on a large number of innovations being on display at booth 11B002. Yet that will not be the main focus this year. "We mainly want to show what solutions we have up our sleeves and what these products from our range are all about. A story we tell from five worlds: perfect power, safe operation, intelligent detection, industrial connection and smart switching. Five knowledge areas, so to speak, in which we really make a difference with our broad package and our technical expertise," says managing director Harmen Sikkema.
"Customers don't actually know how good we are," laughs Sikkema. "They often only know us from one product and don't know what else we can do. We have the sensor, but also the cable to connect it and the safety relay to achieve a safe application ... and so much more: 50,000 products to be exact. By starting from the product instead of telling our story from the solutions we can realize with it, we make customers aware of our strength across the board. We show not how we do it, but why: making machines better."
Not a simple exercise. That's why fortop went to work with an external partner. Five worlds were identified: perfect power, safe operation, intelligent detection, industrial connection and smart switching. They will get their first for the Dutch public at WoTS. "This story actually grows out of our approach within perfect power. Electrification has made the entire energy issue within an industrial plant a lot more complex. There you need a broader story to make clear how important each step is to achieve guaranteed reliable operation. A line that we now also extend to our areas of expertise in automation," Sikkema adds.
The five worlds have each been given their own icon and will define the image of fortop's booth during WoTS on the 13 m wide back wall. For each of these areas of expertise, it is also bringing its most innovative products. "Our mission has remained unchanged: to achieve optimal technology together with our customers. Our products and suppliers are still the same. Only now we have turned our approach around. The applications are central. After all, customers often want something just a little different than a standard product. That is also our strength. With this new approach we make our qualities, with which we distinguish ourselves from classic wholesalers, more visible," Sikkema explains.
Yet fortop offers the same online facilities as a wholesaler. From the product portal, customers can purchase products and follow up orders in a very approachable way. Videos explain how to navigate it easily. Technical information is included with each product, as well as information on availability and delivery times. "Everything to make it as easy as possible for the customer. But with the added value that everyone knows about us: a team of specialists that is available to every customer, large or small, for technical support. Because that is what we still like to do best: come up with good solutions to challenges in technology," concludes Sikkema.
