Flexibly build robots in-house

Probotic has only been in business for two years but is now making considerable headway with robotic solutions in the broadest sense. Based on Fanuc as the main robot supplier, the company has already realized various applications in which robots take over heavy and repetitive work. The distinguishing feature? Knowledge of robotics and various markets which makes the two owners think in terms of solutions instead of standard products. The company focuses not only on cobots, but especially on 'real robot solutions' for application in the food industry, among others.

Richard Havermans is one of the two owners and gained a lot of experience with robots at previous employers within general mechanical engineering. "Now I focus on what I enjoy most: translating customer-specific questions into the right solution. We realize the solution completely in-house; usually in stainless steel. We draw the concept in 3D, design the electrical schematics and produce the robot solution, including control cabinet and programming. Of course, we also commission it. Only the laser cutting work we outsource."

In addition to the robotic solution, the company also develops its own software. For example, to create a pallet pattern with which a pallet can be loaded in the best way with packaging that is (very) different from each other. This makes customers independent of external parties and completely free to create the pattern.

Applications

When the customer does not have a specific preference for a robot, Probotic chooses Fanuc products. With these, excellent results have been achieved so far. But of course it is also possible to meet customer-specific requirements. The focus of the solutions is currently on palletizing products or various pick and place operations. But in principle, any robotic solution is possible. Havermans: "At the end of last year, we moved to larger premises where we work on robotic solutions with a permanent group of freelancers. So we are growing considerably, but for the time being we are keeping the size so compact that both of us can still do what we love most: design and build. All the while maintaining our Brabant conviviality. Always time for a cup of coffee!"
