SICK MultiScan100: versatile 3D-LiDAR sensor in compact housing

SICK MultiScan100: versatile 3D LiDAR sensor in compact housing

The new multiScan100 is a true multi-talent. This 3D-LiDAR sensor not only maps the horizontal 2D plane at high resolution for applications such as localization and mapping, but also simultaneously performs a 360-degree 3D environmental scan. The sensor thus generates a 3D point cloud that detects objects and people very accurately. High-quality features such as multi-echo and filters for rain and dust particles ensure that this latest member of the brand new multiScan family makes reliable measurements in all conditions.

Among other things, the new sensor is ideal for mobile platforms. Take AGVs with forklift function, for example. The mulitScan100 effortlessly detects precipices and overhanging obstacles, giving the user clear answers to questions such as "Where is the AGV?", "Isn't it driving off the embankment?" and "Can the AGV pass under this? This prevents unnecessary downtime. Thanks to its long range, the multiScan100 is also suitable for stationary applications.

The multiScan100 can be individually configured and easily integrated. A system plug for numerous interfaces ensures fast implementation. The multiScan can even be ordered preconfigured from SICK with the desired interface and application. Nice to know: thanks to the modular software system with apps and software add-ons, the 3D-LiDAR sensor is always ready for the future.

Core information

  • 3D LiDAR sensor detects objects in detail with 16 scan layers and provides object motion direction via 3D point cloud
  • 360° all-round visibility and large vertical opening angle (up to 65°) enable large working range
  • Easy localization thanks to high-resolution 0° layer (0.125°) in 2D with optional reflector detection
  • High measurement accuracy (<2 cm) and low measurement noise for precise positioning, thanks to high-quality functions such as multi-echo and filters for e.g. rain and dust particles
  • Robust design for long-term availability in demanding environments
  • Individual configuration possible thanks to apps and embedded
