Platform on production and process automation
Advanced technology connects industrial systems with each other and with the future
Ton van Beek (Channel Partner Manager) and Vincent Wagenaar (General Manager) said, "We want to walk the industry through the different options and show which technology is best for which application."

Advanced technology connects industrial systems to each other and to the future

Having systems and devices smartly connected, communicating and sharing information is the basis for achieving a future-proof business. But how do you do this? During the event Connect to the future at Brainport Industries Campus on May 23, HMS Networks will show which communication solutions are available and how you can achieve success with them.

"By leveraging the data that machines generate, you can move from corrective maintenance to planned and eventually predictive maintenance. You can increase the efficiency of your systems, reduce your downtime, make your business processes more sustainable, and so on. The majority of machine builders and end users know they need to take action to future-proof their business, but at the same time it is difficult to put their money where their mouth is. That is why we are organizing the event Connect to the future. With networking opportunities, live demonstrations at a microfair and knowledge sessions, we want to show companies solutions and how they can effectively get started," explains Vincent Wagenaar, General Manager at HMS Networks Benelux. HMS specializes in various communication solutions. With advanced technology, the company connects millions of industrial devices worldwide, both in automation systems and IIoT applications.

HMS stands for Hardware Meets Software. HMS technology enables industrial hardware to communicate and share information with software and systems.

5G and cybersecurity

Wagenaar cites a number of topics that will be touched upon during the event. "After an introduction about Brainport Industries Campus, the plenary section will cover 5G for industry and cybersecurity. A fast and reliable 5G network opens doors for advanced automation and it makes working with wireless robots and machines much easier. At the same time, it is and will remain important for companies to operate cybersecure. The industry is increasingly aware that security must be in order to prevent malfunctions, irregularities and damage to reputation. Fortunately, there are now various products on the market that can support companies in securing their environments."

Laws, regulations and communication techniques

The plenary session will be followed by a number of parallel sessions. Ton van Beek, Channel Manager at HMS Networks: "Industry 4.0 enables smart manufacturing and the realization of intelligent factories. Industry 5.0 is about the interaction between man, technology and machine. This also changes laws and regulations. If something goes wrong, it must be possible to intervene immediately, even with wireless systems. Machine builders and system integrators need to think carefully about this. That is why we will address the new EU Machinery Regulation."

The proliferation of wireless machines not only leads to a different approach to safety. "More wireless systems also means a greater variety of wireless communication techniques (4G, 5G, bluetooth, WiFi, etc.). We want to guide the industry through the different options and show which technology is best for which application."

Factory Uptime

Getting systems and machines to communicate intelligently with each other leads to added value. Wagenaar: "For example, it is possible to reduce downtime through permanent monitoring. We have diagnostic tools in our range that allow you to continuously monitor a production line. These tools can detect deviations from the normal situation at an early stage so that operators can schedule maintenance in good time - even before a malfunction occurs. How this works, we are happy to show the public."

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence can also contribute to better performance. Wagenaar: "Because of the aging population and the increasing complexity of machines, it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure knowledge. Using smart algorithms, you can easily extract useful information from large data sources and predict your maintenance or increase your efficiency."

Data journey

But before you can achieve success with data, you will have to overcome some obstacles. "We want to show you where you can start, what challenges you can face and what goals you can achieve. Internet of Things certainly leads to added value, but each company's data journey is different. That's why it's good to connect with other companies as well. Connect to the future is an event where we not only share knowledge. Like-minded people can also exchange experiences and see what is possible through live demonstrations at the microfair. In addition, specialists will show the four production lines Anybus, Ewon, Intesis and Ixxat that HMS Networks carries, present. In short, Connect to the future connects - in every sense. "
