For Identification and Access Management (I.A.M.), Pilz offers safety and security functions in one system with the operating mode selection and access authorization system PITmode. One component of this system is the PITreader. Various transponder keys with RFID technology exist for this. Pilz has added a transponder in a card and a sticker format to the options. All variants are freely writable and rights can be defined. The appropriate software tools are of course available for quick and easy programming of the PITreader keys and PITreader settings.

PITreader (S) card units offer solutions within a comprehensive field of application. With PITreader card and PITreader sticker, new RFID transponders have been added. The card and sticker formats allow even more flexible use of access control. The RFID-compatible cards already present in the company and the well-known PITreader keys can be used for authentication, offering even more flexibility in the choice of transponders.

Smart, flexible solution

A clever feature of the PITreader cards is the transparent cut-out so that the LED status indicator on the PITreader is always visible even when the card is held in front. Of course, the PITreader card unit can also be used in combination with the small controllers PNOZmulti 2 or the automation system PSS 4000 as PITmode flex or PITmode flex visu for access authorization and secure operating mode selection.

Safety and security functions in one system

The operating mode selection and access authorization system PITmode offers a solution in safety and security. The devices make it possible to select the operating mode functionally safe and control the access rights on machines and plants. This prevents incorrect operation and manipulation and protects man and machine. To provide the ideal solution for individual requirements, the range includes various hardware and software components for your safety and security solution from one supplier.

Access authorization with PITreader

With the PITreader, tasks regarding access rights for machines and plants can be performed. The possibilities range from simple enabling and user authentication to a complex authorization matrix and company-specific coding. In addition, the PITreader can be used flexibly as a stand-alone device or in combination with a Pilz control system.

PITreader S

PITreader S offers the integration of the OPC UA standard. On the one hand, this increases the security of communication between server and client. On the other hand, PITreader S extends the connection possibilities to systems of other manufacturers that also use OPC UA and thus promises even more security and usability for access authorization. For optimal gate security with authentication, PITreader S is also available in the button unit PITgatebox.

The generic PITreader keys are now available in six new colors. The transponder keys for the PITreader reading unit are therefore distinguishable at first glance and greatly facilitate their use in practice. Which functions you assign to the individual colors is entirely up to you. This is because the RFID keys are freely programmable. This allows you to decide which colors to assign to different machine types, functions and zones or operating modes.

PITmode fusion - the modular operating mode selection system

PITmode fusion is the modular implementation of the operating mode selection system and is applied when a third-party safety controller is used. This system consists of the reading unit PITreader and the separate processing unit (Safe Evaluation Unit - SEU), which evaluates the selected operating mode and switches functionally safely between up to five operating modes. The operating mode can thereby be selected via available buttons or via the PIToe 4 S control element. Of course, the functions of PITreader with respect to access rights can be fully utilized.
