IoT, Internet of Things, literally and figuratively begins with connectivity. You can't start analyzing data intelligently and building new applications around it until you get it out of machines. That's what makes Vynze's IoT experts and Wireless Logic's connectivity specialists such a good match. Together, they provide seamless solutions.
The world is buzzing with "things": millions of devices worldwide are already connected and more are added every second. A trend that after years of talk is now also leading to concrete applications in the industry. "The interest in IoT is gaining momentum," notes business manager of Vynze Kristof Brouwers. "That has everything to do with maturity: the solutions have now proven themselves to be reliable and safe. But it remains a complex matter. Because it's about IT and OT at the same time and because hardware, software and connectivity have to come together in one seamlessly working solution."
Vynze and Wireless Logic are therefore joining forces to present themselves to the market as a "one-stop IoT shop. A logical step for both parties. "We are pioneers in connectivity," explains Jeroen Gijzen, commercial director of Wireless Logic. "We make sure that our customers always have the right network technology available according to their application, wherever their devices are in the world. We do that with SIM technology that transcends traditional telecom operators or via satellite for those places where no mobile network exists. With the acquisition of IoThink Solutions (which includes the van Kheiron suite) in 2022, we are now broadening our view and bringing IoT connectivity and software together."
That the Vynze portfolio also includes Kheiron's software was the cue for Brouwers to immediately call Apeldoorn. "In Belgium you don't have these kinds of players; here it's the classic telecom operators who offer connectivity to the industry. But those are basically two different worlds. You don't want to have to change the SIM card in your machines if they move to the other side of the world and if there turn out to be no roaming capabilities there. These are questions that customers also come to us for. By working together, we can now offer a total solution in which each party brings its expertise, ensuring that our customers' IoT applications work properly anytime, anywhere."
Married to each other they are not. But they do see a lot of synergy and added value by bringing each other into the story. Brouwers: "You always need connectivity to collect and transmit data. But also a software platform to visualize it and extract intelligent insights from it. We always start from what the customer needs. He tells us exactly what he wants to achieve, we bring in everything from technology and experts. It is precisely this expertise that often makes the difference and that customers return for." Gijzen also sees this: "The IoT story is really a journey, a learning process. You have to propose a solution that best suits the level your customer is at. IoT is increasingly becoming part of companies' strategy. The time for experimentation is over. You want reliable partners and technology to achieve seamless solutions."
Pumps are an indispensable component for loading and unloading ships. Every second a ship spends at the dock longer because the pumps are not functioning properly costs tons of money. So it pays to monitor their performance and predict their possible failure. That's exactly what Pumpy's IoT solution, powered by Vynze and Wireless Logic, does. Vynze provides an Ewon gateway to visualize the data from the PLC in Kheiron Studio. Each ship owner or shipping company has their login so they can see where each pump is located and what the temperature, vibration and flow tell them about the health of the pump in question. And Wireless Logic's role in this story? Which, thanks to Conexa, ensures that there is always connection, wherever the ship is, by always switching to the strongest network.
